A principal benefit of choosing a member is that you will be guaranteed a consistent approach to the Examination. Our members are kept up to date with developments taking place in the Boat Safety Scheme, many of them to the owner's advantage and we are better placed to pass these benefits on to you. 

If for any reason, the vessel does not meet the required standard on the day, we will explain fully why this has happened. Normally, this will be supported by a written/typed list of failed items, along with the relevant fault number. This will enable you to check against the BSS published documentation (known as The Essential Guide to the Boat Safety Scheme), to satisfy yourself why she did not justify a Pass Certificate. Our Examiner will also ensure that you fully understand exactly what needs to be done to put anything right in a cost-effective way.

The Association is the only organisation to represent the opinions of the Examiners who implement the requirements of the Boat Safety Scheme on the ground. We have a representative on the two major decision-making committees of the Boat Safety Scheme which, of course, enables us to represent the interests of our customers by fighting, for example, to keep imposed costs down to a minimum level.
